Odysseo by Cavalia – What an AMAZING Show

Odysseo by Cavalia is a unique big top show that is traveling around the country. We are lucky enough to have them in Salt Lake for a few more weeks. I did a giveaway for them a couple of weeks ago and so earned pair of free tickets to their Social Media night for my husband and I.

The show is simply incredible – words really can’t describe it. Fortunately, as part of the Salt Lake Odysseo social media night, I was allowed to take as many photos and videos of the show as I wanted. The show has 65 horses plus 45 highly talented performers and hundreds of different costumes.

Here’s are some of the lovely bloggers and their families from the evening. It was incredibly generous of them to allow so many of us to attend. Prior to the show, we were treated to a sumptuous buffet – part of their VIP package. Options include steak, shrimp, gourmet salads, beer, wine, and various other beverages, plus a wide variety of delicious desserts served at intermission – all included as part of your VIP ticket, plus priority seating and a stable tour, plus the gorgeous full-color souvenir program.

The stage is a perfect setting for this unique show. It includes a three-story hill built from 10,000 tons of earth, rock, and sand. The set includes a full-sized merry-go-round and a 40,000-gallon lake. It is far beyond anything ever attempted to date on a traveling show such as this.

The horses are the true stars of this show. As you can see, they are simply gorgeous. There are 65 of them, all male – 18 full stallions and the rest geldings. I found that surprising as I would have assumed females would be easier to work with, but I guess they need males for their strength and endurance. They are from a dozen different breeds – everything from common quarter horses and mustangs to purebred Spanish breeds and Lipizzan horses.

The 45 performers are just as exotic. They are from 9 different countries including Africa, Italy, Japan, and Brazil.

The show will be here in Utah for a few more weeks and it doesn’t say what additional cities they will be traveling to this year. Tickets are available on their site until June 6th, but I heard a rumor that the show could be extended for a few more weeks if they continue to have sell-out shows.
